The last day of September.....
September witnessed (gave us) many festivals…From the beginning of the month September had to make more joy in everyone’s mind..
Onam,Malayalees’ own festival..
Ya.i think every Malayalee has their own concepts of ONAM.All of them try to celebrate at his own level. I remember Madhavikkutty has written in her Diaries(Ente Diary kuurippukal-Madhavikkutty) about her Onam in childhood & old age. There she compares these two onams with the opinions of other cultural leaders. All say that earlier Onam was good and now onam brings /exploit only consumer nature of malayalees(ippozhu enthonnu onode,pandokkeyalle onam).It may be true. But I don’t satnd with these cultural leaders and I am with Smt Madhavikkutty.She continues that old age onam was in the grip of caste thinking. Low caste people like Cheruman, Nayadees etc will get new dresses and money from the upper cast families.Now the problem of caste is not that much in societies. More people (when compared to old age) have money and live, celebrate their life.
Mahabaliyude samayathu maanushareelaarum oru pole. ---Socialism------I think it happens in this occasion of consumerised, publicized onam…
Eid – The celebration came next to Onam.
The festival is the end of one month fasting .Fasting makes remember about the people don’t have food.(Statistics shows 25000 persons die due to hunger & lack of food per day ).Also Ramzan helps to evaluate the deeds of gone year. Islam says there must not be anyone who don’t have the capability to take food on the occasion of Eid.The rich (every member in family) ought to give their part to the poor of the society. I think a good concept.Eid gave us to think about all the sections of society & creates opportunity to celebrate with family members.
Navrathry, Vijayadasmi, Dasra----
Actually I don’t know the exact concept. I know only think that it is the celebration that remembers victory of virtues.
All festivals are there to celebrate. We do all celebrations.

മാവേലി നാട്ടിലെ സോഷ്യലിസം യഥാര്‍ഥത്തില്‍ ഉണ്ടോ സഖാവെ? കാസറ്റ്‌ മാറി ക്ലാസ്സ്‌ അയെന്നല്ലേ ഉള്ളു .. എന്തൊക്കെ വേര്‍തിരിവുകലാ മനുഷ്യര്‍ക്ക് ഇടയില്‍ ആണ്‍ പെണ് വ്യത്യാസം മുതല്‍ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിന്റെയും , തൊഴിലിന്റെയും , സ്റ്ടസിന്റെയും എല്ലാം പേരില്‍ .... വ്യക്തിയെന്ന നിലയില്‍ ഫെസ്ടിവല്സ് സന്തോഷം തരുന്നുണ്ട് സത്യം , വീട്ടില്‍ എല്ലാരും ഉണ്ടാകും, കസിനുകള്‍ ഒകെ കാണും .. but still... media അതിനെ എത്ര വിറ്റു കാശു അക്കുനുണ്ട് എന്നതാ എനിക്ക് ഫീല്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നേ.. ഇപ്പൊ പുക്കാലം ഇടുന്നെനെക്കാളും, സദ്യ കഴിക്കുന്നെനെകാലും എല്ലാം tvide മുന്നില ആണല്ലോ എല്ലാരും. ReplyDeleteഎനിക്കും Eidinte concepts ഇഷ്ടമാ .. but നോംബെടുത്തു രാത്രി വെട്ടി വിഴുങ്ങുന്നവരോടല്ല... നോമ്ബെടുക്കുകയും മിതമായ ജീവിതം നയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവരോട് intimacy തോന്നാറുണ്ട്. Islam truly have great concepts. നമുക്ക് ആവശ്യത്തിനു ആഹാരം കിട്ടുമ്പോ അതില്ലതവരെകുരിച്ചു ഓര്‍ക്കുക നമ്മുടെ കടമാതന്നെയ, നമ്മളാല്‍ ആകുന്ന വിധം അവരെ സഹായിക്കുകയും. This i believe in the fundamental of communism!
പിന്നെ Dasra, പൂജവെയപല്ലേ. എന്റെ വിശ്വാസം its a tribute to സരസ്വതി ദേവി, വിദ്യയുടെ ദേവി ആണല്ലോ. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് വിദ്യാരംഭം കുറിക്കുന്ന അവസരം.
Television has made a major change in amny families ..I agree ,the time of load shedding was the discussion time of every families.....But even in this new world malayalee is trying to celebrate the festivals (eventhough the business mind exploit it in large extent)....
ReplyDeleteAll festivals attain its completion when it has done according to their norms (Eid)......Islam didn't say anywhere to eat excessively in night....if anyone do so,he didn't know the concept of Islam well....
its true that media is taking a major advantage!but in this era,only mass media can help us to know more about our cultures and customs..and to compare the old with the new...but i think there is no use in comparison...coz changes are inevitable..even though v r weiling that,today's generation is in front of tv,which youth will atleast try to change that hobby...?none!it cnt,coz v hav to be updated...hav to be fast...(naadodumbol naduve odanamennanu...!ennu karuthi nadu kuthi veezaruthu....!).pnne,festivals...they are the kind blessings of the lord,to know his omnipresence;to seek him in all lives.....(ma opinion!)..about eid,a precious occasion,where one controls his desires(both internal and external) for the whole month...and one more thing,one cannot take much more food,even he has been fasting for day length due to vry thirst...(from ma experiace)...
